US vice president says talks end without agreement

US Vice President JD Vance said he is returning to the United States without reaching an agreement with Iran after more than 20 hours of negotiations in Islamabad.

He thanked Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the army chief, calling them “incredible hosts,” and said they had worked to help bridge gaps between the two sides.

“We have not reached an agreement,” Vance said, adding that the outcome was “bad news for Iran much more than it’s bad news for the United States.”

He said Washington had clearly outlined its red lines and areas of flexibility, but Iran “chose not to accept” the terms.
