Shipping halts in Hormuz after US blockade announcement
Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has “immediately halted” following the US announcement of a naval blockade, according to maritime intelligence firm Lloyd’s List.
The firm said some vessels that had been transiting the strait turned back after the announcement.
Shipping had been moving at reduced levels over the weekend, with a slight uptick in tanker traffic on Saturday as companies sought to move vessels amid a tentative ceasefire.
But Lloyd’s List said flows stopped after the blockade announcement, raising concerns over global energy supply routes.
