US officials say Islamabad talks created framework for future negotiations

US officials said talks in Islamabad, while failing to produce a breakthrough, generated momentum and established a framework for continued negotiations with Iran, The Atlantic reported.

Officials said some progress was made on issues related to Iranโ€™s nuclear program, while intelligence assessments suggest pressure from lost oil revenues could influence Tehranโ€™s position.

The Associated Press reported that a new round of negotiations between the United States and Iran could be held as early as Thursday.

Reuters reported that since the Islamabad meeting, the US has remained in contact with mediators, with Pakistan exchanging messages between Tehran and Washington.
