Canada allocates Lebanon $40m in humanitarian aid

Canada will give $40m in humanitarian aid to Lebanon through international organisations, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.

The announcement was made during a phone call between Canadian and Lebanese foreign ministers, in which the Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand reiterated Canada’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and condemned the Israeli attacks on the country.

The move comes as Israeli bombardment of Lebanon continues at the same time that peace talks in Washington are ongoing between the countries.
