Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, saying it is part of a broader understanding between Tehran and Washington mediated by Pakistan. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the halt in fighting in Lebanon came within the framework of ceasefire understandings between Iran and the United States. He added that Tehran had, from the outset of its consultations with regional and international parties — including during talks in Islamabad — stressed the need for a simultaneous ceasefire across the region, including Lebanon, and for serious follow-up after those discussions, according to Saudi TV channel Asharq News.
