Australia ‘stands ready’ to support security in Strait of Hormuz, PM says
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Australia “stands ready” to support efforts to restore stability and security in the Strait of Hormuz, adding he hopes an announcement that the waterway has reopened will hold.
Writing on X after attending a virtual leaders’ summit co-hosted by Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer, Albanese warned, “The longer the war goes on, the more significant the impact on the global economy will be, and the greater the human cost.”
“Australians are feeling the impact on fuel supply and prices and we are working to shield families from the worst of it,” Albanese said.
