Israeli army says photo of soldier damaging Jesus statue is authentic

The Israeli military said a photo showing a soldier damaging a statue of Jesus in southern Lebanon is authentic after a review.

The image, which circulated on social media, had sparked outrage.

The military said an investigation has been opened into the incident.
