IMO says seafarers killed as attacks on Gulf shipping mount
At least 10 seafarers have been killed and several others seriously wounded in attacks on commercial vessels in the Gulf since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran.
βAround 20,000 civilian seafarers remain aboard vessels in the Persian Gulf, facing dwindling supplies, fatigue, and severe psychological stress,β IMO spokesperson Natasha Brown said.
Following an extraordinary council session in March, the IMO said it is working with states to develop a safe passage plan to evacuate crews and ensure access to supplies.
