Israeli army says it stopped settlers entering Syria buffer zone
The Israeli military said it intercepted about 40 Israeli settlers who attempted to cross into Syria earlier today.
According to the army, the group entered several hundred metres into the Israeli-controlled buffer zone before being returned to Israel and handed over to police.
Israeli media identified the group as members of the right-wing “Pioneers of Bashan”, which advocates establishing Jewish settlements in Lebanon and Syria.
