US Senate rejects latest bid to curb Trump’s war powers

The US Senate has again voted down a resolution aimed at limiting Donald Trump’s authority to wage war on Iran, marking the fifth failed attempt.

The measure was defeated 51 to 46.

Ahead of the vote, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said Trump had made “empty promises” to end the war and urged Republicans to support the resolution.
