Israeli soldiers looting civilian property in southern Lebanon: Report

Israeli soldiers are looting large amounts of property from homes and businesses in southern Lebanon, Haaretz reported based on testimonies from sources stationed in the country.

Some of the items stolen include motorcycles, televisions, paintings, sofas, and carpets.

The report noted that "senior and junior command in the field aware of it but not taking disciplinary steps to eradicate it," despite the Israeli army saying it is taking disciplinary steps.

According to the testimonies, troops have loaded their vehicles with stolen equipment without attempts to conceal the items.

"It’s on an insane scale," one soldier said. "Anyone who takes something - televisions, cigarettes, tools or whatever - immediately puts it in their vehicle or puts it aside, not inside the post, but it’s not done in secret. Everyone sees and understands."
