US intelligence assessments indicate that Iran has retained significant military capability despite claims by the US administration that its defensive and offensive capabilities have been destroyed, NBC News reported on Tuesday. The broadcaster cited US lawmakers as saying that American military intelligence believes Iran still possesses “significant military capabilities.” The assessments reportedly contradict statements by US President Donald Trump and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, who said the US had achieved full control of Iranian airspace and destroyed Iran’s defence industry.
