The Egyptian armed forces have announced the conclusion of a joint military exercise with Pakistan focused on counterterrorism and what were described as “unconventional threats”, as defence ties between the two countries deepen. In a statement released on Thursday, the Egyptian military said the exercise, dubbed “Thunder 2”, was conducted over several days at special forces training facilities in Pakistan. The drills involved Egyptian paratrooper units alongside Pakistani special forces.
