Trump sends Witkoff and son-in-law to Pakistan for Iran talks

US President Donald Trump is dispatching envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to Pakistan for talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi this weekend, according to a report.

CNN, citing administration officials, said the pair will take part in discussions with Araghchi in Islamabad.

Vice President JD Vance is not expected to attend, as Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will also be absent.

However, Vance could still travel if the talks gain traction, with members of his team already on the ground and involved in the discussions, the report said.

Kushner holds no official role in the Trump administration.
