AFP: Journalist held in Kuwait over war footage released

The US State Department said a Kuwaiti-American journalist, Ahmed Shihab-Eldin, has been released by Kuwait and allowed to leave the country, AFP reported.

Officials said the release followed intervention by the administration of US President Donald Trump. 

Shihab-Eldin had been detained for weeks during a crackdown related to the sharing of video footage of the war between the United States and Iran.
