Aoun says Lebanon won’t be used as bargaining chip

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said Lebanon will not be used as a bargaining chip in regional conflicts, stressing that any negotiations would be conducted in the country’s own interest.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Raad of Hezbollah urged authorities to withdraw from what he described as direct negotiations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is pursuing a path toward “historic peace” with Lebanon, while accusing Hezbollah of obstructing the effort.

Israeli media also reported that the military has recommended expanding attacks in Lebanon.
