US scraps Islamabad visit as Trump cites new Iran proposal

US President Donald Trump said he cancelled a planned visit by US envoys to Islamabad, where they were expected to meet Iranian officials, citing frustration over stalled efforts. He said “a lot of time and work had been wasted”.

Trump said that shortly after cancelling the trip of Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, the US received a new proposal from Iran that he described as “much better,” suggesting a possible shift in negotiations.
