US senator criticises plan to vet visa applicants over Israel views

US Senator Chris Van Hollen has criticised a reported plan to vet Green Card applicants based on their views on Israel, calling it “outrageous”.

He said the proposal would amount to denying legal residency based on political speech.

Van Hollen said, “Since when did it become ‘anti-American’ to criticise the actions of a foreign government? Who is he fighting for?”, referring to Donald Trump.
