Russia’s UN ambassador says Iran can restrict Hormuz traffic

Vassily Nebenzia, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, said Iran has the right to limit navigation in the Strait of Hormuz during conflict.

Speaking at the UN Security Council, he accused Western countries of hypocrisy in blaming Tehran for disruptions.

“In times of war, a coastal state that is under attack may limit navigation in its territorial waters for the purpose of security,” he said.
