Iran condemns US seizure of oil tankers as 'piracy'

Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, denounced the US capture of two Iran-linked tankers, the Majestic X and the Tifani.

“This is the outright legalization of piracy and armed robbery on the high seas,” he said in a post.

He added that such actions are being framed as law enforcement despite targeting commercial vessels.

The exchanges come as US and Iranian forces confront each other over control of the Strait of Hormuz.
