Hegseth claims Iran's leader is 'likely disfigured'

The US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has claimed that Iran's new supreme leader is "wounded" and "likely disfigured" in a press conference at the Pentagon.

Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the last supreme leader Ali Khamenei, has not been seen since his election to the position on Sunday, leading to speculation about his condition following the assassination of his father and other members of his family in a US strike at the beginning of the war last month.

Hegseth also said that Iran no longer has a functioning air force, air defence or navy, and that its missile reserves were down 90 percent, arguing that the US is "decimating" Iran's military capabilities.
