Report: Centcom leader set to brief Trump on new Iran strategy on Thursday

US President Donald Trump is expected to receive a briefing on new plans slated for potential military action in Iran on Thursday from Centcom leader Brad Cooper, according to a report by Axios. 

Centcom has prepared a plan for a "short and powerful" wave of strikes against Iran that will likely target infrastructure, the article reported, citing three sources familiar with the matter.

The aim is that as a result, Iran will return to the negotiating table. 

Other options that could be discussed in the briefing include Washington seizing the Strait of Hormuz - with the possibility of a ground invasion - as well as a special forces operation to secure Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium.
