A Saudi oil expert has said the United Arab Emirates’ decision to withdraw from OPEC and the broader OPEC+ is unlikely to significantly disrupt global markets. Dr Mohammed Sorour Al-Sabban, a former senior adviser to Saudi Arabia’s petroleum minister, described the move as “regrettable” but stressed that the UAE retains the sovereign right to determine its economic policies. Speaking to Sputnik, Al-Sabban said the UAE’s production share within OPEC and OPEC+ could be offset by other member states, particularly Saudi Arabia, which he said has the capacity to maintain supply levels and limit market disruption.
