An official from the United Arab Emirates has said the country is reassessing its role in multilateral organisations, following its decision to withdraw from OPEC. Speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, the official said Abu Dhabi is reviewing the value of its memberships but is not currently considering additional withdrawals. The remarks come amid speculation that the UAE could reconsider its participation in regional bodies such as the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council after announcing it will leave OPEC and the OPEC+ from 1st May.
