Iran says it will pursue new Strait of Hormuz model without US role

Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said Tehran plans to introduce a new management model for the Strait of Hormuz that excludes any role for the United States. In a post on X marking “National Persian Gulf Day”, Ghalibaf said Iran aims to secure a future for itself and neighbouring states free from what he described as American presence and interference, without detailing how the proposed model would operate.
