Air defence systems were heard operating over Tehran late on Thursday night, according to Iran’s Tasnim and Fars news agencies, with no immediate explanation. Tasnim, a semi-official news agency, reported that the sound of air defence systems being activated was heard in parts of Tehran, adding that it was not yet clear whether this was “related to a defence test or to counter possible reconnaissance drones.” The agency later said air defence systems had been activated against small aircraft and unmanned reconnaissance drones detected in the airspace.
