US Congress member says 'imminent' military strikes on Iran still on the table

US Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal in an interview with CNN indicated that "an imminent military strike is very much on the table". 

Blumenthal indicated that this should not be surprising as military leaders involved in the matter have discussed such actions for some time now. 

"I can’t be more specific, because I received at least one of these briefings, several of them, in classified settings. But I’m not saying with any certainty as to when it would happen, but very much on the table as a potential plan," he said. 

He added that it is "deeply disturbing" because it would involve "American sons and daughters in harm’s way and potential massive casualties".
