Trump pleads with South Korea to join US mission to protect Gulf shipping

US President Donald Trump has called on South Korea to help secure shipping routes near Iran.

Trump said Washington is seeking broader international participation to bail the US from what has become another war of choice in the Middle East.

He added that US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth will hold a news conference on Tuesday alongside General Dan Caine to provide further details on the operation.
