Canada, UK condemn Iran attacks on UAE, call for de-escalation

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed support for the United Arab Emirates after reported Iranian missile and drone attacks.

“We stand in solidarity with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and the people of the United Arab Emirates and commend the efforts made to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure,” he said, reiterating Canada’s call for de-escalation and diplomacy.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also condemned the strikes, saying: “This escalation must cease. Iran needs to engage meaningfully in negotiations to ensure the ceasefire in the Middle East endures, and a long-term diplomatic solution is achieved."

Britain will “continue to support the defence of our partners in the Gulf," he added.
