Israel to extend detention of Gaza flotilla activists

Israel will request a six-day extension of the detention of the Gaza flotilla activists who were arrested off the coast of Greece.

The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Ashkelon where Spanish activist Saif Abu Keshek and Brazilian activist Thiago Avila are being held.

"Our lawyers have been informed that the state is requesting a six-day extension," said Miriam Azem, head of the Adalah rights group, speaking to AFP.

The Israeli court approved a first two-day extension of their detention on Sunday.
