US official claims attacks on Iran a 'defensive' move: Report

US military strikes on Thursday targeted Iranian drone launch sites, coastal defense cruise missile sites and radars, US officials said according to the Wall Street Journal.

One of the officials claimed the attacks were "defensive", saying that Iran had planned to launch hits from these areas on US warships. 

Some of the locations targeted by Washington, according to the official, includes military sites on Qeshm, Bandar Abbas and Garuk.
